Exterior photograph of the Horace Mann Junior High School located in Denver, Colorado. Constructed in 1887-1889, it is the oldest school oldest school in the Denver Public School District and one of the finest example of Richardsonian Romanesqeu styling as applied to school architecture in Denver. The large two-story structure is characterized by irregular massing and terra cotta and sandstone trim that contribute to its architectural interest. The original main block has been altered, although an addition was made in 1957. The building was designed by prominent Denver architect Robert S. Roeschlaub, responsible for numerous schools in Denver, as well as Trinity Church and the Central City Opera House.
