August 9f 1973 MINUTES OF CHUN BOARD MEETING
President Mike Henry called the meeting to order
fallowing a picnic at the hoine of Field and Bobbie
Benton* Absent were David Fletcher9 Ethel Lunde,
Patti Jackson, Jeanne Busaeca, Ed Haynes, Mary McAllister
and Marshall Snider• The minutes of the May Meeting
wereappreved with the addition that thfc beard had
authorized the treasurer to spend up to $100 through
the sunder* The President gave the treasury report
indicating that there was a $30 discrepancy between
the bank records and those of the treasury* He further
reported that CHUN now has Ik? paid members*
A notion was passed authorizing the $8 over-expenditure
for the summer and further authorizing the treasurer
to spend up to $75 before the next meeting, whioh is
planned for the end of September*
David Fletcher and Maggie Spurllng are planning
a public forum on Thursday, September 6t 1973> to discuss
the plans for Capital Hill and Cheesman Park that will
ultimately be presented to the Planning Board and to
the City Council* David Knauber is in chaste of publicity,
which will include personal notification of each member
through the newsletter* The Bentons are in charge of
locating a place for the meeting and Maggie Spurling
will arrange the format*
Rhonda Knopp announced that the Molly Brown House
will be available for 75 persons (with band and cash
bar possible) for seme CHUN meeting and/or social
occasion* The President asked Rhonda to formulate a
detailed plan to use these facilities to present to
the board at the September meeting*
Jim James iseved that CHUN support the Historic Denver
amendment to the Zoning Code which would permit historic
buildings to be designated for certain, specified
commercial purposes* The motion was seconded, discussion
followed and the motion passed*
It was moved that a committee of Mike Gilbert,Jim
James, Jim Krendl and Cathy Krendl draft a proposal
wherein CHUN would provide academic supervision of a
third year law student at the University of Denver Law
School through an Intern program* The committee is
to submit its proposal to the President, who will!
poll the board* If the proposal receives a 2/3/Votef
it will be presented to the law school*
The President announced that he has drafted a
new questionaire to be sent to the members and that
he will be available for input the next two weeks*
The availability of a feed cooperative in the
area will be announced in the newsletter*
The Bentons were thanked for their hospitality* Dean Punke of
the Civic Center Association asked CHUNTs approval of a plan that would divert
one-way east-west traffic to Colfax & 13th, & that CReznik, R.Knop S> D.Hart be
involved in further discussion. Motion made and approved.
