Outdoor, group portrait of North American Indian (Pawnee) chiefs. They are identified from left to right as: La-Roo-Chuk-A-La-Shar, or Sun Chief [Chowee (Chaui) band]; Aru-Saw-La-Kit-Towy, or A Fine Horse [Skidi (Skedee) band]; Ski Ar-Ra-Ra-Shar, or Lone Chief [Chowee (Chaui) band]; Se-Ted-E-Row-Weet or One Aimed At [Skidi (Skedee) band]; Cot-Ta Ra-Tet-Goots, or Struck with a Tomahawk [Skidi (Skedee) band]. The men stand on a buffalo robe, they all wear blankets, beaded, striped leggings, and cotton shirts. Sun Chief, A Fine Horse, and One Aimed At wear bear claw necklaces. The others wear bead chokers and one wears a stone or metal necklace. A Fine Horse and Struck with a Tomahawk wear hair roaches, and Lone Chief wears a headdress made of animal antlers, pieced fabric, scalps, teeth necklaces and feathers.
