A young matador with a lance, possibly Carlos Garcia or Antonio Sentrea, poses in the bullring where a Mexican bullfight took place on August 24 and 25, 1895, in Gillett, Colorado. A bull stands by the wood fence around the ring. Two spectators sit under umbrellas in the stands, two others sit in the top row, and three others stand and look over the top to the ground on the outside of the arena. The bullring was built at the race track in Gillett for the occasion. Joe Wolfe was the organizer of the event which caused a scandal because of its cruelty to animals.
