Summary	View of large cottonwood tree called "The Old Monarch" in the center of the block, next to the boardwalk, between "C" and "D" Streets on South Union Avenue, in downtown Pueblo, Colorado. A ladder leans against the tree and a man stands in front of it amid fallen branches. Around the tree are brick and wood frame falsefronted buildings, many with signs, including "Wholesale & retail, fish & oysters" and "Boots & Shoes."

Notes	Formerly copy negative F14092.; Title hand-written and photographer stamped on back of photoprint with additional hand-written information: McCarthy Block, Pueblo, Colo. Stood between C and D streets on S. Union Ave. Age 380 years. Circumference 28 ft. Height 88 ft. Cut down June 25 1883. In 1850 there were 36 persons massacred near this tree by Indians. Fourteen men have been hung from one of its limbs. The first white woman who died in Colorado was buried under its branches.; R7100108370
