Notes
Title from label on original, reproduced in photographic print.; Typed copy of news story that accompanies photograph: "By his long bangs shall ye know him, by Olga Curtis, Women's News Service. Denver - (WNS) - The latest teen fad in mid-America has boys combing their hair like girls. Something called the "sosh cut" ("sosh" is short for "social") is THE male hairdo for teens, It's also called the "surf cut" but under any name, it's old fashioned bangs. Boys are supposed to let their hair grow straight down over their foreheads and eyebrows; some even put a bleached stripe into the bangs. Under this hairdo, the smart teen boy today wears white shirt, madras plaid jacket, black tie, low slung white Levis, white socks and dirty sneakers. His equally sosh girlfriend wears her long hair flopping straight down, dances in a split skirt over pedal pushers and either wears sandals or goes barefoot. To be really IN, the sosh teen has to drive a sosh vehicle-- either a car of pre-1933 vintage or a brand-new 1963 model. Since the old cars are harder to come by, they're more IN. Cutlines with Curtis. He's the most. Women's News Service Photo. Kathy Swiers, 16, admires "sosh" bangs worn by Tom Wither, 16. Both youngsters live in Denver.; R7110066431
