A Pony Express rider gallops away from the Three Crossings Station in Fremont County, Wyoming. This United States Army station has log and stone buildings with a log stockade and a lookout tower. Men camp beside their covered wagons near the station and a man with a whip herds pack horses. In the distance a circle of wagons is camped on the Oregon Trail near the Sweetwater River. A Pacific Telegraph line is beside the trail.
