Title	Public school, Black Hawk, Colo.
Summary	Exterior front view of schoolhouse, Black Hawk, Colorado. Building is rectangular, two story, single detached structure. It has horizontal clapboard siding with pilaster corners, and has ten bays on the front facade. The roof is center gable with a medium pitch and has chimneys that are offset right, left, and center. There are also two chimneys on the peaked break in the center of the roofline. A bell canopy is on the roof ridge and protects what is said to be the first school bell west of the Mississippi. Eaves project with no visible rafters or significant embellishment. Windows are double hung with flat heads and six panes to a sash with no surrounds. Main door is centered on the main facade with a flat opening shape with a shelf surround above and moulded trim on either side. The architrave side panels are flush with lights, as are the transom panels. The door is double leaf, two panel. There is a porch area around the entry that is railed in, and sits atop a rock wall about 12 feet high. A staircase, divided by two rails into three parts is used to gain access to the building; three people are near the church.
