Summary	Fred Kruse's Grocery & Provisions Store faces a dirt road in the left foreground of this view of Gregory Gulch between Central City and Blackhawk in Gilpin County, Colorado. The gulch is the site where John H. Gregory made his historic discovery of gold in 1959. A row of houses stands near the store in the center foreground. Another dirt road leads up the hill in the gulch to several mines, including the Cook, the Fisk and the Carr mines. Additional houses stand along ; that road.

Gold discovery by Gregory in 1859 was made just below mine shaft house in lower center of picture. At head of ravine is the Cook Mine - The Carr tops the ridge beyond the cook. H.H.
