Fifteen men stand on the sidewalk in front of the First National Bank at the corner of Main and Eureka streets in Central City, Colorado. The men are dressed in suits and hats and many hold cigars. H.H. Lake is third from the left in the middle row (slightly blocked by a man in the front row wearing large white hat). Lake worked at the bank for 47 years, from 1880 until his retirement in 1927. At the far left of the middle row is J.C. McShane, possibly of the ; line connecting the Central City district with the Moffatt Road at Pactolus; however, the line was never completed. A vertical band of signs hangs on the side of the bank building, including signs for the Norwich Union of England Fire Office, the Springfield Insurance Company of Massachusetts, the Pennsylvania Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia and National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford.; Sauer-McShane Mercantile Company. At the far right of the middle row are B.E. Seymour and Oscar Williams. Williams and his father, Sheriff Dick Williams, ran the Williams Stables from 1880 until 1896, when the elder Williams died. Oscar Williams continued the operation until 1913. In the front row are R.A. Hall (fourth from right), T.H. Potter (second from right) and R.L. Martin (far right).
