of
stereograph
: "
Golden
City
, the
Capital
of
Colorado
, and
12
miles
from
Denver
,
showing
a
range
of
hills
running
parallel
with the
mountains
.
Clear
Creek
runs
through
the
center
of the
town
,
furnishing
a
fine
,
excellent
water
privilege
; also
supplies
a
ditch
with
water
for
irrigation
. The
first
range
of
mountains
are to the
back
of the
observer
, and but
half
a
mile
distant
. The
best
of
fire
brick
is
made
from
clay
obtained
in its
immediate
vicinity
, and the
montains
at this
point
are
said
to
abound
in
coal
,
iron
and
lead
.
It
is
proposed
to
establish
Rolling
Mills
here, to
supply
the
middle
division
of the
Pacific
Railway
with
iron.
