consists
of
five
girls
and
three
women
. They
stand
behind
a
display
of their
wares
,
which
includes
jarred
fruits
and
vegetables
placed
on
boxes
of
mason
jars
and a
small
table
. A
trophy
cup
and
ribbons
are on
display
.

Topliss
,
head
of the
4-H
club
in
Montrose
,
Colorado
, has, for the
first
time
,
enough
girls
to
form
the
club
. The
girls
have
become
adept
at
canning
over
the
last
three
years
,
including
the
procurement
of a
number
of
state
reserve
and
grand
championships
. In
1936
,
Alice
LeBarr
was
chosen
state
grand
champion
. The
group
cans
fruit
,
vegetables
and
different
kinds
of
meat
.
Winners
have
received
trips
to the
state
fair
in
Pueblo
,
trips
to the
Denver
rodeo
,
cash
prizes
,
pressure
cookers
, and
dozens
of
jars
.
County
leaders
and
others
have
helped
to
organize
the
club.
