Summary	Exterior view Thomas Holland's (father" of Fort Amity) house in Amity, Prowers County, southeastern Colorado, features two story, gingerbread gable trim, wrap-around screened porch with decorative turned posts, brackets and balustrade. A man leans on porch rail. A picket fence surrounds the yard with a two section gate across dirt driveway; one long, one short left open. A barn, sheds, and other houses show in distance. The town was once an old trading post and stage station along the Santa Fe trail. In 1898, it became a Salvation Army colony to relieve urban poverty brought about by rapid industrialization. Holland served as the national colonization secretary.
