New penitentiary hospital (80 beds) completed in Spring, 1962
Bars cover the windows of the hospital at the State Penitentiary in Canon City, Colorado, and a chain-link enclosure fronts the smaller wing on the flat roof of the two-story concrete structure. Lawn and sidewalks front the building; a bench is under the covered entry. Buildings in the background include the stone, gable-roofed dining hall, guard towers, and cell blocks. A flag waves from a rooftop by ductwork, and rocky crags are in the background.
