View looking southward from the east side of Yule Creek, shows mining equipment precariously aligned on an exposed vein of marble at the quarries on the west side of Yule Creek, four miles south of Marble (Gunnison County), Colorado. The third quarry opening is visible, in front of the Boiler House with the marble rubble covering part of the ramp going up to the quarry. The partially covered ramp operated cable-powered carts from 1907-1910 to move marble from the quarry to a location for transfer to horse pulled wagons (then steam powered tractor) for transport to the mill site in the town of Marble. The cable-powered cart system was abandoned in 1910 when the electric railway was completed.
