A view of a parade on Monday, July 5, 1897, in Georgetown, Colorado, looking east on Sixth (Alpine) Street at the corner of 6th and Argentine Streets. The Empire Hook and Ladder team is in the distance, preparing to pull their hose cart west on 6th. A man on horseback turns toward the firemen; another (in a white jacket and hat) rides toward the camera. Bunting with stars and stripes and American flags decorate the buildings; on the left side of the street people lean from the second- story windows of the Masonic Lodge, the Fish Block, and other buildings; a balcony has been erected in front of the Cushman Block, and is filled with people. The side of a building on the right reads, "Dry" and "Hats -ur--" and women under parasols are seated on the balcony on the front. Griffith Mountain is at the end of the street.
