Title	Snetzer Block

Summary	Exterior view of Jacob Snetzer's tailor shop, Georgetown, Colorado, at Taos and Fifth Street, looking east. The building is of wood construction, with a false front, an elaborate cornice with brackets, and windows with decorative arches on the second floor. The main entrance, a double door, is flanked by two large mullioned windows, and over the first floor a sign the width of the building reads, "J. Snetzer Merchant Tailor." A horseshoe is fastened on the bottom of the sign over the door and the number 414 is above the door frame. A small one story addition is visible on the back of the building, and the side of Grace Episcopal Church is visible on the right, up the hill. A large bush is in front and large rocks and grass surround the building; the dirt street is in front, and the mountains are in the background.

Notes	Formerly MO79.; Penciled on back of photoprint: "Jacob Snetzer, Merchant Tailor, was a wel--known business man in upper Clear Creek valley in the 1870's and 1880's. A young chap John Milton copeland, late of the the State's outstanding bankers, recorded in his diary in 1876: J̀. Snetzer is making me a pair of pants, $18. Coat & vest, $35.00--$53.00.' Today the building has been shorn of its ornate false front and its iron oxide red clapboard surface is yellow stucco with picture windows cut into the d̀own the valley' wall."
