Exterior view of the Ute Iron Springs Chateau, in Manitou Springs, Colorado, looking northwest. The lower level of the west end of this building has a stone arcaded patio, topped by an enclosed, frame second floor with hipped gable roof and a sign on the top that reads: Ute Iron Spring. A buckboard and surrey are parked on Ruxton outside the patio. The one-story frame east end has a hipped gable roof with a widow's walk and ornamental, finial topped dormers, and a striped, dagged canvas awning over the projecting gable window from which hundreds of glasses of soda water lemonade were distributed daily in the summers. Lettering on the east end reads: "Pike's Peak souvenirs J. G. Heistand, collector and dealer in fine mineral specimens;" a description of products follows. On the right, the two-story frame and gambrel roofed office has a sign that reads: "Iron Springs Co. Office." The Iron Springs Hotel, with its many clipped gables, dormers and chimneys is right of center, and is painted completely white. Electric poles and lines cross the foreground; scrub and rock dotted hills fill the background.
