Summary
View of the grounds of the Hamill House, in Georgetown, Colorado. The house was built by Joseph Watson, and was acquired by mine owner William A. Hamill in 1874. A cast iron fountain is in the foreground including a basin at ground level rimmed by round urn planters, and a pedestal with renaissance revival decorative motifs which holds a basin from which goat heads spurt water. Lilies and leaves are in the center of the uppermost basin. Behind the fountain are Hamill's office and stable; both buildings are in "chateau" style, with hipped roofs with dormers. The office is made of granite and has ashlar masonry at the corners. The stable stone is more roughly finished. Both buildings have towers; the stable's was used to house squab. A stone arch connects the two buildings.
