A one story, clapboard house with a side gable is partly visible on the crest of a hill in Central City, Colorado. The house has a walk-out basement with a door, rectangular windows, a paneled door with a makeshift tin roof over the top, and a porch on the rear of the house. A woman works on a torn screen door on the basement level while another woman washes windows. A third woman washes out rags while a man looks on. The foreground is rocky and barren foreground. Mines and mine tailings dot the hills in the background.
