Mine
in
Southern
Colorado
. The
mine
began
in
1907
and
closed
in
1961
.
Both
men
are
wearing
a
battery
operated
lantern
that
mounts
to the
plate
on their
cap
. The have
hard-toed
shoes
.
Eloy
has a
brass
tag
stamped
with an
identifying
number
visible
at his
waist
. The
miner
placed
a
tag
on
each
car
he
loaded
for
credit
. The
tag
was also
used
to
identify
him in the
event
of an
accident.
