Notes	Content derived from inventory prepared by Dana EchoHawk.; From inventory: "In 1854, colonists from New Mexico founded the town of Guadalupe located on the north side of the Conejos River in southern Colorado. They met in a small jacal (log hut) to sing hymns. They moved the settlement across the river to higher ground on the south side and founded the town of Conejos. In 1856, Rev. Gabriel Ussel offered the first mass in the still incomplete building. Completed in 1860, the adobe church was completed and a rectory built. Pedro Antonio Lobato aided Juan Francisco Lujan in the casting of the bell for the Church, and in 1863, Bishop John Baptiste Lamy blessed both the church and rectory."
