Summary	Cesar Chavez and farmworker Jesús Valderrama, pose beside a hand lettered copy of the Bill of Rights outside the Denver City and County Building in Denver, Colorado. They were part of a protest against the incarceration and trial of United Farm Workers of America activist Jerry Ryan.

Notes	Content derived from inventory prepared by Dana EchoHawk.; From inventory: "Father Jose Lara and farmworker Jesus Valderrama are shown in front of the Denver County Courthouse at a large demonstration in 1975. Judge Robert Cummins had previously ordered the arrest of Jerry Ryan, Denver Boycott Coordinator, who was on trial for disturbing the peace at a picket line. Ryan refused to remove his Boycott Gallo button in court which the Judge stated would prejudice the jury. In response, outside the trial, Lara and Valderrama hold up the Bill of Rights. Judge Cummins was overruled by a higher court, Ryan was found innocent of the charges. The UFW, represented by the National Lawyers Guild, had 102 charges brought against it by police in Adams, Jefferson, Boulder, and Denver counties from 1974--1976.
