They are children of families working in area beet fields during harvest season. The 18 children increased the student body to 29 at the Owl Canyon School. The photographer and feature writer, William Reddick Martin, was working for the "Fort Collins Express-Courier" i 1937-38, and these are his photographs that accompanied his articles.
