THE UNIVERSITY OF DENVER
Places to See and Things to Do in the Campus Area
There are a number of exciting things happening on the Campus today,
and several places to see (even though many activities are in recess
for the inter-term holiday).
While you are in this area try any or all of the following possibilities:
*Visit the Math Lab in the Mary Reed Building (use South Entrance)
and participate in Dr. Ruth Hoffman's fascinating demonstration
of math techniques with computers and other devices. Demonstrations begin every hour on the hour from 1:00 to 5s00 p.m. and can
accomodate 40 people at a time.
*Spend some time on the Campus Circle where an Arts and Crafts Fair
is in progress. The South Pearl Street Merchants, and several
others, are demonstrating crafts and selling craft wares here
today for your pleasure.
*Stroll through the Campus to the west to enjoy the Harper Humanities Garden and the Evans Memorial Chapel. You may want to
extend your walk to include acquaintance with some of the other
buildings - old and new - and their varied architectural styles.
Your Campus Map (next page) will identify them for you.
■""Follow the self-guided tree tour of the Campus (page 18 in your
Tour Book) to see the interesting trees to be found here.
*Walk a block east of the main Campus to visit the Center for
Judiac Studies at 2258 South Josephine Street where the Jewish
Historical Society has a display of precious documents, pictures,
and mementos on display.
*Visit the Human Performance Lab in the Field House at Gaylord and
Asbury for a demonstration of some of Dr. Marvin Clein's unique
techniques for improving the physical performance of champion
athletes - and ordinary folk, too. You may want to walk
to the Lab by way of the Campus Mall, north of Evans Avenue, or
ride the bus. Demonstrations begin every hour on the half-hour.
^Explore the new Shwayder Art Building on Asbury, west of the
Field House, where a lovely collection of contemporary Japanese
prints is on display. One of the finest facilities of its kind,
this building is the most recent addition to the Campus.
*If hunger assails you, the Star Market Deli is just across the
Evans Avenue-Univeristy Boulevard intersection from the northeast corner of the Campus. And hot dogs are available at the
University Park Methodist Church courtyard, across University
Boulevard from the Campus Circle.
Enjoy your visit while you become acquainted with some of the
University's facilities, programs, and traditions.
