CHUN Board Meeting
August 24, 1978
1200 Williams St.
The meeting was called to order by President Dan Paulien at
7:4-0 p.m. Board members present were John Bermingham, Dene
Clark, Ray Fisher, Jim Hill, Sarah Hite, Marcia Hughes, Bernie
Jones, Steve Lang, Paul Mahoney, John Ozello, Tom Potter, JoAnn
Soker, Joyce Thorn, Charles Trainer. Also in attendance weze
Elaine Soldinger, Mary Krane, Ed Til ten, Kathy Allen, Jock Mc
Nulty, Dennis Pimple, Caroline Linville, Kristen Hartman, Lt.
CD. Dressel, John Powell.
The agenda was approved as mailed. Joyce Thorn moved that the
May 25 and June 22 minutes be approved as circulated. The motion was seconded and passed.
Dan announced that CHUN hired Jock McNulty part time who then
resigned as a member of the CHUN board. Patty Jackson and Jim
James have also resigned from the board. It was decided that
"Life on Capitol Hill" announce CHUN beard vacancies and solicit
nominations. Representation from all areas of Capitol Hill
should be considered as well as a representative from the People's
Fair. Paul Mahoney and Dan Paulien will serve on a committee
making board member recommendations.
Elaine Soldinger from Project Whistlestop, Denver's Neighborhood
flnti-crime Program, made a plea for organizers and block workers.
She circulated a sign-up sheet. Her phone number: 629-STOP.
Nancy Rettig has resigned from the Governor's Neighborhood Task
Force. Sarah Hite moved that JoAnn Soker be CHUN's representative and. Joyce Thorn the alternate. The motion was seconded and
passed.
Dan Paulien distributed copies of CHUN's revised by-laws.
Financial Report. An audit committee will be appointed in January.
The monthly financial statement was distributed with the minutes.
Jock McNulty and Ed Til ton, CHUN's employees, have requested transportation reinbursement of 100 per mile for CHUN business. This
expense should not exceed ^50-$100 per year. This expense was
approved later in the meeting.
Jock McNulty announced CHUN's office hours are Tuesday mornings
9:00 - 12:00 and Thursday afternoons 1:00 - 4:00. The CHUN office
is in the basement of the East Central Community Center (1200
Williams).
People's Fair. A representative group from CHUN and the People's
Fair committee proposes "Capitol Hill People's Fair Committee
Organization and Responsibilities" which was mailed with the June
minutes to board members. Included in the proposal is allocation
of funds raised (10% to CHUN, $5000 as seed money for next year's
Fair expenses, remainder to community groups allocated by ClfUN and
People's Fair joint task force); the fact that the Fair is a committee of CHUN; and the budget making process. Bernie Jones moved
that the document be adopted. The motion was seconded, and passed.
