MINUTES OF THE MEETING
CAPITOL HILL UNITED NEIGHBORHOOD
March 28, 1974
The meeting was called to order by President Michael Henry.
Cathy Krendl, Bill Pace, Jeanne Buscacca, Don Bain, Mary Snider,
and Mary McAllister were excused.
The treasurer reported current balance of $271.56.
Mike Gilbert and Marshall Snider were appointed to look into the
possibility of tax-exempt status for CHUN.
David Fletcher reported that the annual meeting would be held
on April 24, at 7:30 P.M. at Dagwell Hall in St. John's Cathedral.
Bob Carper would be in charge of the panel which will discuss Capitol
Hill historic architecture.
The motion was made, seconded, and passed that CHUN send a letter
of appreciation to Eleanor Monroe at St. John's for her assistance
and cooperation in scheduling meetings.
Barbara Holme, presented the nominating committee report, and
suggested that the names attached hereto be nominated to the
Board of Directors. After discussion, a motion was made, seconded,
and passed that the Board accept the nominating committee's report.
Sargeant Sherwood from SCA Team informed the Board of the team's
efforts in Capitol Hill. Through high visibility and community
involvement they hope to lower the crime rate in certain target
areas, including Capitol Hill.
It was reported that a pilot project on street lighting be
implemented very shortly on Pennsylvania and Pearl between Twelfth
and Fourteenth. David Knauber was appointed to report on the
progress on this project.
A concerned Housing Coalition's proposal on landlord-tenant relationships will go before the City Council in a few months. It was moved,
seconded, and passed that CHUN write letters to all Council persons
sponsoring the ordinance and that this be done after the bill
is introduced.
Marshall Snider reported that Legal Aid is planning an office in
Capitol Hill with emphasis on elderly citizens1 needs. It was
moved, seconded, and passed that CHUN support this business.
