CHUN Needs You
Time To Renew
CHUN's annual membership drive kicks off
this month, and it begins with you, our
current member. This is your first
reminder that we need your yearly membership dues now. Do yourself and CHUN a
favor, send your check now, along with
the membership form on the back of the
Urban Dweller. Reminder letters will go
out within several days.
We will be repeating our membership phone-
a-thon, which last year produced both
membership renewals and some helpful
information about our members' satisfactions and dissatisfactions. Tentatively
scheduled for the evening of February 3,
the phone-a-thon will need volunteers
for an evening of high spirits, comradery,
and telephone calls from Mountain Bell
headquarters. For further information,
call Jan Moore-Kirkland, 832-2069 (h),
839-3671 (w).
Phase II of the membership campaign, aimed
at bringing in new members, will feature
some friendly competition among neighborhood assemblies, prizes, and a soon-to-be-
announced special event that will climax
the campaign. February's Urban Dweller
will carry details about this phase of
the effort, but meanwhile we encourage
you to begin enlisting your neighbors and
workmates to join CHUN. The dues are a
bargain, and just three hours of volunteer
work entitles one to the first year of
membership free.

Good Neighbors Noted
The Capitol Hill area and CHUN are fortunate
to have some dedicated individuals who work
to make Capitol Hill a better place to live.
At its annual Christmas party, CHUN awarded
six "Good Neighbor" awards in order to
formally recognize outstanding contributions
and care to Capitol Hill or to CHUN.
Three awards were bestowed on people who
have contributed to bettering the Capitol
Hill area in general. Recipients of these
awards were: Helen Carroll, director of
scheduling activities for Denver Public
Schools, acknowledged for yearly reserving
East High School for the People's Fair and
her loyal enthusiasm to the Fair; John
Thaxton, owner of the dry cleaning establishment in the 13th and Pearl area, for his
support of the Unsinkable Neighbors' efforts
to clean up the area; and Demetrios Stata-
polus, owner of Howard Liquor store at 13th
and Pearl, also cited for his support and
contribution to the Unsinkable Neighbors'
efforts to clean up the area in which his
business is located.
