These names will be put into nomination at the Annual Meeting, planned for late April, and will be voted on by the membership at that time. Other nominations can be made from the floor at the meeting, and the committee itself expects to submit a few more names as well. At its May meeting, the Board will then elect its officers. Persons thus far nominated are: Sally Barton, 660 Clayton David Blair, 1421 Pennsylvania Dene Clark, 800 Washington Elizabeth Crawford, 1545 Pennsylvania Roger Doherty, 1317 Ogden Ray Fisher, 1271 Gaylord Sara Gilbert, 772 Marion Nancy Rettig Goffman, 1622 Race Michael Henry, 1302 E 11 Bob Hesdorfer, 921 E 13 Jim Hill, 474 Logan Stephanie Holle, 1327 Humboldt Patty Jackson, 670 Emerson Jim James, 1535 Downing Bernie Jones, 1359 Gaylord Mary Krane, 4220 Grove Dottie Lamm, 400 E 8 Gerri Lane, 1150 Detroit Dan Lutz, 1128 Detroit Paul Mahoney, 1142 Gaylord Chuck Nefzger, 1029 Pennsylvania Bill Pace, 1639 E 22 Dan Paulien, 1259 Steele Tom Potter, 2159 Vine Dean Punke, 1441 Pennsylvania Lu Sanders, 900 E 8 Mike Sanders, 900 E 8 Bill Thorne, 1232 Race Joyce Thorne, 1232 Race Joe Zalkind, 1256 Corona ANNUAL MEETING See enclosed flyer for late breaking details! ELECTION PROCEDURE CHANGES PROPOSED The April all-membership meeting will be asked to consider an amendment to the CHUN By-laws, designed to allow more democratic election of the Board. Sponsored by Ted Gleichman and Bernie Jones, the amendment would require that any person, to be elected to the Board, would have to receive a simple majority of the votes cast. Presently, the organization elects its Board by a single vote on the whole slate of nominees. The exact wording of the amendment is: Article VIII, Section 3 - Elections. At the end of sentence 7, which begins "The election judges shall, as soon as practicable...", add: "provided that no member shall vote for more nominees than the number of directors to be elected, and no nominee shall be declared elected who has not received a total vote equal to a simple majority of the ballots cast."
